Midland Sailing Club was represented by Richard Dee and Chris Gould in a Merlin Rocket, Chris Winters and Julian Forde in a GP 14, Iain Leiper in a Laser, Paul Young and Megan Ward in an Enterprise and Matt Smith crewing an Enterprise for helm Jon Woodward.
Midland SC at Saundersfoot Coppet week 2011
About twenty Midland Sailing members and families ventured to Saundersfoot Sailing Club in South Wales for their annual Coppet week held over the late spring bank holiday week.

On the 24th October, the juniors held a car wash to raise some funds towards maintenance and purchase of equipment.
Midland Sailing Club Juniors excel at the Enterprise Youth Nationals
£12,200 in grants awarded to MSC.
Fantastic news - the MSC has been awarded a Sport England Grant of £10,000 and £2200 from the John Merricks Sailing Trust. Added to this is £125 from juniors raising which gives us a total of £12,325 to purchase six new toppers.
Winter Series Results
Here are the results of the MSC 2016 Winter Series so far. Only 8 races needed to qualify - 4 Saturday afternoons. Get the New Year off to a good start with some sailing!

Trophy Amnesty
We are missing some trophies.
Fantastic progress made during the work party on Saturday 22nd.
There was a great turn out for the club clean up day. Lovely sunshine and tea helped the workers along. Lots of clearing out was done and a big pile of stuff was removed from the shed.
Bart Bash 2017
Yesterday 20 boats raced in the average lap race dedicated to Bart's Bash and sailors and members then enjoyed a BBQ in the decidedly post-summer conditions. It was great to see many newer members joining in too.

Christmas Race and Social
We had a great day with lots of festive spirit. Santa's race officers, tinsel, elf hats and prises for everyone.

Christmas has caused a delay in the processing of these results but they are now online.
Kurrawong's round Britain trip
Alan and Jackie Birch are sailing around Britain in their yacht ‘Kurrawong’. Here’s their latest dispatch! “200 years ago Nelson won the battle of Trafalgar and began Britain's naval supremacy for about a 100 years. To celebrate this victory the Cruising Association has organised a rally around Britain. There are 2 groups of about 15 boats going round, some westabouts and some eastabout.
Help raise money for the Midland Sailing Club with easyfundraising
We have linked up with easyfundraising to see if we can raise some money for the Midland Sailing Club. easyfundraising helps us to do this in two ways; first we can use the "easysearch" search engine when searching the web and second when shopping on the web we can use "easyfundraising" to shop online with retailers such as Amazon, M&S, Argos, John Lewis, Comet, Vodafone, eBay, Boden and and a percentage of whatever we spend comes straight to the MSC.
Summer Wednesday evenings are for sailing
Wednesday evening's sail presented challenges for both sailors and the Race Team, and was enjoyed by all.
A hardy group of MSC's members brave the snow for Chris G's workshop on boat trim.
It was well worth overcoming the cold and snowy roads. There was lots of in-depth discussion about boat trim from Chris and Caroline. All about foils, hull and sails and how to get them working together for the best boat performance in different conditions. Many thanks to Chris and Caroline.

Great results for Midland Sailors at the Starcross steamer
On Sunday the 25th of February three of our boats took part in the Starcross Steamer , a 150 minute pursuit race in the River Exe Estuary (Devon). In an 16 -20 knot cold easterly wind.

New life from Old Sails

Southport 12 Hour Race 2018
For this year's Southport 12 hour junior race Midland Sailing Club entered a team of six who raced from 8am till 8pm in the club's Enterprise. There were 23 teams which consisted of 9 Enterprises, 9 GPs and 5 Argos and it was a beautiful warm summers day with a light North Easterly wind of about force 2.

A history of the club part 4. 1917-1930
From 1919 until 1922 the Club prospered very well. Fortunately some photocopied extracts remain of the “Helm”, a forerunner of the Mainsheet, which was professionally printed just after the War. They give a fascinating insight to what the Club was like in 1921-2.
