If you are on the rescue duty rota, then you should be looking at getting this qualification. When a rescue becomes a serious matter such as when we have very strong winds and boats being driven into the dam, or a capsized boat with an injured crew member then you will wish you had done this course.

You'll learn how to launch and recover from a road trailer, high and low speed maneuvers and seamanship skills such as man-overboard recovery, anchoring and the emergency stop. Shore-based sessions will include instruction in engine maintenance, practical use of charts and compasses, weather interpretation and legal requirements.

This award also forms the basis of the International Certificate of Competence, and you'll also get a copy of the RYA "Start Powerboating" Handbook and certificate.

The next step is the RYA Safety Boat certificate which we hope all club safety boat drivers will take at some stage and a course will be arranged soon.
