Summer Wednesday evenings are for sailing

Wednesday evening's sail presented challenges for both sailors and the Race Team, and was enjoyed by all.

The forecast light NNEly died when it snowed 20 minutes before the Warning Signal, and came back as a NNWly just in time for the Race Officer to set a telephone number course (6-5-3-2-7-4) in an attempt to ensure at least one beat.

Shifts and gusts resulted in big gains and losses, and a couple of unexpected capsizes.

Richard Adams & George Crabtree (GP14) won, from a slightly damp Chris Martin (Solo) with Rear Commodore Nancy Gudgeon crewing with Paul Young in his shiny resettled Enterprise completing the podium.

Thanks to George Douthwaite and Rob Thorpe in the Safety Boat, and Assistant Race Officer Mike Brown who recorded the results in the big blue book both diligently and legibly.

It would be remiss not to mention the sailors' gratitude to Megan and her little helpers for an excellent supper.

Next Wednesday' race starts at 7pm.
