Organizing Authority: Midland Sailing Club, in co-operation with the Enterprise Class Association.





1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2 Competitors should note that Midland Sailing Club abides by the RYA Racing Charter and that they will be required to undertake to sail in compliance with the Charter, which can be found at the front of the RYA rule book (Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020).

1.3 Buoyancy aids shall be worn in accordance with the rules of the Club. The wearing of wets suits or dry suits is advised.

1.4 Access to the water is not permitted before 10.30 am due to use by other Reservoir users.



2.1 Boats will be subject to ISAF Regulation 20 rules on advertising.



3.1 The regatta is open to boats of the Enterprise class with a valid measurement certificate.

3.2 The Enterprise Association membership number for the helm may be required.

3.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form on the day of the event and payment of the entry fee.

3.4 The boat’s measurement certificate may be required for inspection.

3.5 Helms and crews under 18 years of age during the event shall submit signed Parent/Guardian Declarations.



4.1 Entry fee per boat: £15 plus any class association supplement.



5.1 The races will be sailed on Edgbaston Reservoir.



6.1 The sailing instructions will be available at registration.



The number of races is indicative only and will depend upon weather conditions.


7.1 Registration will be from 9.30 am at Midland Sailing Club.

7.2 A briefing for competitors will be held in the clubhouse at 10:30 hours on the day of the event.

7.3 There are three races as the series, first race not before 11:00 hours.

7.4 The format of each race shall be of one start with an average race duration of approximately fifty minutes for the leading boat.

7.5 Racing will be run in accordance with RYA low point scoring system.

7.6 No warning signal will be made after 15:30.



8.1 Each boat may be required to produce a valid measurement certificate during registration.

8.2 Check measurements may be made at any time during the event.



9.1 The courses to be sailed will be a sequence around marks surrounded by water.



10.1 Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

10.2 When fewer than three races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.



11.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats.

11.2 This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.



12.1 A trophy is awarded for first place and will remain the property of Midland Sailing Club.

12.2 The trophy must be returned prior to the same event the following year.

12.3 Prizes will be given for the first three places.

12.4 The prize giving will be as soon as possible following the final race.



13.1 Competitors automatically grant to the organizing authority without payment the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television of or relating to the event.



14.1 Rule 4 of the RRS states ‘The responsibility for a boats decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.

14.2 Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk.

14.3 By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:

14.4 They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew, their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event.

14.6 They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore.

14.7 They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions.

14.7 Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate.

14.9 The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities.

14.10 The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particular in extreme weather conditions as can be practically provided in the circumstances.



15.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3 million per event or the equivalent.




Hot drinks etc will be available from 9.00 am

Hot lunches will be available and should be ordered prior to going afloat.
