Powerboat Courses

Craig (Chief Powerboat Instructor) runs powerboat courses for members and non-members of Midland Sailing Club. Members holding a powerboat qualification are expected to cover a small number of duties in the safety boat each year to help with the smooth running of MSC race activities. Others use their powerboat qualifications to help with our junior sessions on Saturday mornings or to provide safety cover for our adult courses. They are very useful qualifications to have!

Programme for 2017

We aim to run at least one RYA Powerboat Level 2 course (the basis for the International Certificate of Competence, required for RYA Instructors) and one RYA Safety Boat course (useful for club safety drivers, essential for RYA Senior Instructors) every year, so that members may progress from PB2 to Safety Boat, having had time to get some boat handling experience in the interim.

Our dates for this year are:

  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 OR RYA Safety Boat Course:25th/26st March (Online Booking available soon)
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 OR RYA Safety Boat Course: tba

Places are limited and tend to go quickly, so please book early to avoid disappointment!
