2024 Race

In 2024 Southport Sailing Club we will be holding the ever popular 12hr race on the usual last Saturday of June – the 29th. It will run 8am to 8pm.

The race is open to 3 boat classes – GP14’s, Enterprise and Argo (Symmetrical Spinnaker only). Teams compete for a number of “races within races” and the overall title race by sailing anti-clockwise around the Marine Lake in Southport. Depending on conditions, this can be up to 60-80 times around the islands, with frequent “tactical” crew changes to ensure everyone plays their part and has a great experience.

This large lake is located just meters away from one of the largest golden sand beaches in the country, and within easy walking distance of the seaside town of Southport. The 2 small islands in the lake ensure sailing is challenging, but the shallow depth (5ft max) also means it is very safe for youngsters.

Southport Sailing Club will provide parking on site and camping pitches for all teams if required (Friday and Saturday), with the galley being open throughout the weekend to supply hot/cold food, drinks and shower/toilet facilities. Sponsor, First Mark, will operate a pop-up chandlery selling all manner of equipment and clothing over the weekend.
