Become a member of Midland Sailing Club
Midland Sailing Club are always delighted to welcome new members. I hope you’ll find us a friendly and helpful bunch of characters.
Meet lots of lovely people from all walks of life who have a common interest in sailing. The club has been established since 1894 and still thrives today. We care about our sailing and we care about our members. All just a couple of miles from the City Centre.
RYA training courses
Learn to sail in our RYA training courses. We run training courses throughout the year you’ll find something to help you whether you are a new sailor or looking to develop your racing, coaching or powerboat skills. As a member you get a discount of 50% on any training courses (unless there is a specific members’ price).
Practice and improve your sailing skills during our free on and off the water coaching sessions. We have evening workshops on boat maintenance, boat trim and the racing rules and various coaching sessions for beginners and the more experienced sailor.
Challenge yourself against skilled competitors in our Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening races. We sail a range of dinghy classes and we welcome a wide range of skilled competitors to race from beginners to champions.
National and regional competitions
Join us in competing in regional and national competitions. We encourage and help our members to compete in regional and national meetings and regattas. We regularly send 30+ members to National Competitions such as Coppet week and the renowned endurance competition the Southport 24hr race.
Store your boat at the club in safe and dry conditions. We have indoor and outdoor storage spaces for member’s boats.
Active social scene
Meet people in the clubhouse and bar and join in our frequent social activities. We provide lunches between races on Saturdays, supper on Wednesday evenings and beach side BBQ’s in the summer. We have guest ales, guest speakers quiz nights and dinners.
If you’re interested in joining we recommend that you come down to the sailing club to meet a few people and see how we work. You can ask for a free trial sail with one of our club members or if you have your own boat come and sail with us a few times.
Your children can learn by joining our Saturday morning juniors sessions. We have an active and friendly juniors section who sail all year around. Our junior’s meet on Saturday mornings at 9.30 until 12.00. Juniors can also sail with the adults during club races on Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.
Membership subscriptions are paid annually and are only £15 per month for an adult and £3.50 per month for a child.
To join you need to fill out a membership application form, find a proposer and seconder from existing member’s you’ve been introduced to at the sailing club and pass the form to the membership secretary, Stuart Jones.
