Welcome to Midland Sailing Club.
We’re a large and friendly sailing club situated less than two miles from Birmingham City centre on Edgbaston Reservoir.
We have mixed fleet sailing and racing suitable for everyone. Young old and in-between, novices, old hands and athletes. We hold club racing every Saturday afternoon throughout the year. Between April and October we also sail on Wednesday evenings and hold regular Sunday Sailing afternoons.
We sail the following classes: Merlin Rockets, GP14s, Enterprises, Lasers, Solos, Fevas, Toppers and optimists and Windsurfers.
Our recently refurbished galley and clubroom provides refreshments during sailing and the bar is open Saturdays after sailing and on Wednesday evenings all through the year. We also hold many excellent social events, including barbecues during the summer and a programme of Wednesday night events during the winter.
We are an RYA Recognised Training Centre, offering RYA courses to get you afloat and sailing, refresh your skills if you have sailed before, and introduce you to racing. For more information on our RYA courses please click here
We have a vibrant and enthusiastic Junior Fleet. If you are over 7 years old come along at 9.30 on Saturday mornings with a change of clothing! Be warned Mums, Dads and carers are expected to stay to help…and maybe even have fun sailing too!
The Club has boats that are available for members to hire. We have a fleet of Optimists (for younger sailors), Toppers (single-handed boats for all ages) and RS Fevas, a GP14, Enterprise, Lasers and Laser 2000s. As a Club member as well as being able to race with us, you have access to the water at almost any daylight time and you can hire the clubroom for your own social event.
You may already have a boat or be thinking of buying one – our members are always willing to offer advice and guidance. We can provide storage for members’ boats, including indoor storage subject to availability.
We are a competitive club, travelling around the country to other clubs to compete in Open Meetings – we also host these events. Every September, a group of club members travels to Southport to compete in the 24 hour race. A drinking and sailing weekend!
